Newbie/Confidence Builder

Are you new to open water swimming and feeling a little nervous or apprehensive? I understand how this can feel and have designed this course specifically to help you relax and begin your outdoor swimming journey.

 

I will support you to:

  • Relax in cold open water

  • Address and fears or anxieties

  • Learn about sea safety

  • Feel confident to put your face in the water

  • Control your breathing

  • Develop any stroke relevant to your ability

  • Discuss wetsuits and all kit 

Prerequisite: Be able to swim 25m front crawl or breast stroke without stopping in a pool.

This session will last one hour.

Improver - Open Water Skills

This session will focus on fine-tuning skills/technique and developing endurance/distance.

 

After a stroke analysis I will support you to: 

  • Correct any issues with technique

  • Advance your distance front crawl ability

  • Learn about pace and adapting technique to varying distances

  • Tweak and improve sighting and swimming in a straight line

  • Develop breathing efficiency

  • Understand the differences between wetsuit and non-wetsuit swimming

  • Practice starting races and mass events

  • Swim in a race/pack

  • Learn how to draft efficiently

  • Perfect turning around buoys quickly

  • Understand how to feed for long distance events


Each session will last one hour. I recommend that you have at least three sessions but please contact me to discuss further.

Beginner/Developing Open Water Skills

This session is for those who can swim at least 50m continuous front crawl in a pool. You will also have some experience in open water. The aim is to take you to your next level and to build confidence further. I will carry out a stroke analysis and then support you to:

  • Breathe efficiently

  • Perfect your body position in the water

  • Swim front crawl with your face in the water

  • Swim in a straight line/learn to sight 

  • Make the necessary stroke modifications

  • Learn abut wetsuit swimming

  • Introduction to race skills if required (mass starts, buoy turns, swimming near others)

I recommend that you book three one hour sessions. Please contact me to discuss further.

Bespoke - Advanced Skills

Maybe you are an experienced triathlete or open water swimmer training for a specific event and you want to focus on specific skills to help you get faster? Or maybe you would like to have some sessions to challenge you in some deeper water over a longer distance? I can work with you to design specific sessions tailored to your needs. Please contact me to discuss further.

This session length will vary and fit the requirement.
